Cannot recommend Sunrise Skylights enough. Recently had them undertake a new skylight install and upgrade attic insulation as part of some energy efficiency upgrades. The quality of service was second to none - incredible attention to detail, going above and beyond to not only install the skylight, but also correct previous poor quality work. The skylight shaft was fully refinished, previous roof damage (from shoddy install a few years ago) repaired, and improvements made to the attic design beyond insulation (new lighter trap door, etc.). Velux product is incredibly high value as well. If you have any roof related work that needs to be done, Sunrise Skylights should be your first and only call.

Danny visited our space and advised us with the best technologies available for what we were trying to achieve, sun tunnels! Our experience with Danny McInenly, owner of Sunrise Skylights, can only be described as superb; he’s super friendly, works quickly, very organized, responds promptly, explains easily, a great problem solver, documents his work and pricing, very experienced, highly professional, takes pride in his work and won't rest until you're completely satisfied. Here’s our story. During several recent downpours (40-50mm), one of our Velux skylights started leaking, twice, at which point my husband contacted Hugo who gave him Danny’s info for an onsite consultation. After assessing the roof and all 5 skylights, Danny shared 42 photos (nifty App) and explained in detail why and how the leaks happened. We were shocked to learn that in the last roofing job (2016) the company reused the original step flashings around the base of each skylight, instead of installing new ones, creating multiple holes for water to drain inside. He found the roofing crew used 3 times the number of nails needed, they didn’t wrap the skylight bases in ice and water shield, and they didn’t adhere to staying 6” from the window edge. In short, he pinpointed each mistake that led to the leaks due to a shoddy roofing job and gave us a reasonable quote to fix it all. Danny expertly replaced the roof with all new shingles, ice and water shield, step flashings and skylight flashings. He had a new horizontal roof vent fabricated for better airflow, even matched our trim color. And he installed new heating cables to melt the ice dams in winter. He provided us with 50+ photos of the work in progress and the entire finished project. Danny is also an expert with downspouts and gutters so he addressed several of our rainwater issues by installing a new downspout with larger diameter directly into our catch basin and by diverting rainwater to a section of eavestrough on the other side of the house. We highly recommend Danny for any roofing, skylights, eavestroughing work, he's the best in the Ottawa area. In September 2024, Sunrise Skylights completed a roofing project at my house. Danny McInenly, the owner and project manager approached the project as a seasoned professional. Once he was advised that Sunrise Skylights had won the project Danny promptly contacted me to arrange a meeting to discuss project timelines, pros and cons of the different types of shingles, replacement of worn/rotten plywood sheets, drainage system, and other issues that could arise during installation of the new roof. Danny went the extra mile ensuring old squirrel habitant was closed off, drilled holes from the outside into the garage making the wires more aesthetic and hidden from view, and created smooth channels for runoff water. The Team was very professional and polite to both me and my family, providing daily updates with photos of the project. We had 2 old Velux skylights that had been leaking, and knew we wanted to replace them with new Velux models and found that Danny was a certified specialist. When contacted he was quick to respond to come and provide a quote. When doing a thorough inspection of the skylights he inspected our roof as well pointing out many issues that needed to be addressed sooner than later. He took many photos and pointed out the problems knowing the roof had reached it's lifespan. Danny also does roofs so he knew what needed to be done. He also took it upon himself to temporarily patch an exposed ridge even though we had not yet decided to contract him for the work. His integrity would not let him leave it like that. Danny's attention to detailand overall knowledge of shylights and roofing was a no brainer for us to go ahead the job. He explained all warranties and processes. Danny and Mike worked hard to correct all the problems that arose during the job, finding solutions to any issue. He always provided day to day photos and explanations of the work. He always showed up when expected with all materials and tools needed and work through some very hot July days. They cleaned up thoroughly and were careful to protect all gardens and property. Danny also did some minor repairs of the siding, gutters and vents when asked. We absolutely love the look of our new roof and shylights with remote blinds and will definitely recommend him to others. I could not be happier that I chose Sunrise Skylights! I needed to replace a leaking skylight on my flat roof. I looked at several options, reached out to a few installers for quotes, and it was clear that Danny was the one I wanted to work with. He's an excellent communicator, very knowledgeable, experienced, and loves his work. I wanted an unusual skylight that would give me rooftop access for inspection and maintenance (it's a two-story, flat-roof century home). Oh, and I wanted it done within two weeks to coincide with interior repairs. I thought it was a long shot. Nope! Danny found the type of skylight I wanted, rushed a custom-fabricated curb, scheduled the work and got it done in less than two weeks! And while he was at it, he happened to notice some loose shingles on the parapet around the roof. Straightened them out and nailed them in. He just loves to solve problems. Danny installed a solar blind on our new Velux skylight today. What a great product! We had researched blinds in window blind stores thinking that it would be more economical to go that route for our new skylight. But we quickly found that the Velux solar blind is a much better product and, in fact, no more expensive than what we found in stores. Sunrise Skylights installed the blind quickly and Danny demonstrated how it works - which it does flawlessly. Excellent product and excellent workmanship.

Sunrise Skylights recently insulated our attic to the R50 level. The owner, Danny fully explained all the options and the various steps needed to bring our insulation up to a high standard. Danny is an excellent communicator and kept us totally up to date on all activities. He was very adaptable and managed to fit our project into his busy schedule so as to meet our tight timeline. He arrived as scheduled and professionally completed the project on time. He insured that all our baffles were clear and used spray foam to ensure all holes in the vapour barrier were sealed. As well, he provided before and after pictures of our attic. Danny noticed a leak in our roof and without any extra charge he returned later, went up on the roof and repaired with the leak. We had the owner, Danny, of Sunrise Skylights install 2 replacement units in our enclosed porch and one replacement unit in our home on the second floor. Not only did he do an excellent job on the roof with the step flashing and replacing brittle asphalt shingles with matching ones but he also did a great job of finishing the interior boxing of the skylights in the porch, covering the old water stained wood with new wood painted to match the existing wood ceiling and trim. He also touched up the paint on the skylight window walls in the house that had water stains. When he was finished with the job, he cleaned up every area where he had been working, leaving no traces of work waste or residue. He is a great communicator keeping us current on his schedule and work where the timing varied from the original schedule. We would have him back for projects not restricted to skylight installations because of his excellent work ethic, including continuing to work on specific issues that arise during a project until they are successfully resolved, demonstrating his wide variety of work experiences.

Excellent in every way. In 2021, a large local roofing company replaced a 1986 skylight in our 3rd floor and left us with a skylight too big for our roof hole and an unfinished mess. We wanted to find a company that would fix what was there and do the job right. Sunrise Skylight did just that. Danny, the owner, first did a very thorough survey of our situation including our roof, the shingles, the size of the hole vs the size of the Velux skylight. He explained what the job would involve including making our roof hole bigger to fit the skylight. All of the deconstruction and construction including reshingling the roof, completing the interior finish work and painting the newly built area were completed in just three days. The result is beautiful. We are very very satisfied and happy and highly recommend Sunrise Skylight.
